Hi, I'm planning on going to school to become a massage therapist..And the school I'm going to has 2 options..I can either get my massage "diploma" in as little as 10 months, or I can get my associates degree in massage therapy. I was wondering which one I should go for?
WOuld I make more money with the associates and get higher ranking jobs? Or would it be the same with a diploma? Please give me some feedback on what you all have and your suggestions. Thanks!

I think having the associates degree would allow you to transfer to a university. It's also good because you can say you have a degree...

I have a diploma but I have had some really great jobs as a massage therapist and have been hired based on my experience.

Go with the degree. If I had that option I would have went with a degree.

I agree with Mimi. When I went to school I only had the option of a certificate program. If offered to me I would have chosen the Degree program. It looks better on your resume and if you ever decide to change careers it will look a lot better to future employers. As far as massage work goes if you're an LMBT you're and LMBT whether or not you have a degree. I've had my own practice as well as worked at a world-class spa and having only a certificate did not hinder me. Massage employers look at you as well as your experience so having the degree won't hurt but it won't be a great help. Still having the degree will be an accomplishment that you will have to carry-on in whatever you do. Whether it be getting a business or marketing degree for yourself or moving up within spa ranks to become a director or moving into a totally different field. Either way you will still be an LMBT and have to prestiege that goes with our FABULOUS job.;)

Why dont you do one thing? Checkout this link. www.massagecourses.gbr.fm. It is the official site of the Holos Massage School and the courses it offers. Maybe you can contact them through email or something and try to get the information you need. They have got good lecturers and trainers. They offer short term courses and also a Diploma in Remedial Massage.
